About the International Carbohydrate Organization
International Carbohydrate Symposium (ICS) is a biennial event organized in the selected host country on behalf of the International Carbohydrate Organization (ICO). The ICS is the premier meeting occasion for glycoscientists. The International Carbohydrate Organization was established in 1980. Prior to that date Carbohydrate Symposia were coordinated by an International Steering Committee first formed in 1965. The ICO Council comprises representatives of about 30 countries accredited by the ICO. The aims of the ICO, as stated in its constitution, are to encourage research, communication and education in glycoscience.
